There’s a moment when achievement stops
being enough.
Years ago, my commanding officer asked me
a simple question:
“Why do you want to be a commanding officer?”
I paused for a bit then said,
“Because it’s the next step.”
That’s when he said something that stuck with me,
not word for word, but the message was clear:
That answer might not be enough to sustain you
when the job got hard.
And he was right.
In that moment, I realized I was following a path,
not my purpose.
I was doing what I thought I should do, without
asking what truly mattered to me.
That conversation planted a seed.
It made me start asking deeper questions:
• What’s really driving me?
• What kind of leader do I want to be?
• What life am I actually trying to build?
It’s what eventually led me to uncover my Blueprint,
and to align what I was doing with who I was
meant to become.
That’s when everything started to change.
Leadership felt lighter.
Decisions made more sense.
And success began to look a lot different.
If you’ve ever found yourself saying,
“It’s just the next step,” pause and ask a better question:
Is it my step?
