You know that feeling when small things start to feel
heavier than they should?
You get frustrated by things that normally
wouldn’t frustrate you.
Little decisions take more energy than they should.
For me, that’s usually the tell.
Not that the team is the problem.
But that I don’t actually know the best next step yet.
I felt this when I was in command and we were shifting
from an expeditionary to a carrier air wing squadron.
I had never deployed that way before.
I was confident in our ability to figure it out.
Confident in the team.
Confident we could learn our way forward.
And at the same time, I had to be honest with myself
about what I didn’t know.
That honesty led me to seek perspectives and advice
from other leaders who saw things differently.
And that example helped my team do the same.
This clip touches on that moment.
When things start to feel heavier than they should,
what does that usually tell you?
